Steve Curwood is Executive Producer and Host of Living on Earth. Steve created the first pilot of Living on Earth in the Spring of 1990, and the show has run continuously since April, 1991. Today, Living on Earth with Steve Curwood is aired on more than 250 public radio stations in the USA. Steve's relationship with public radio goes back to 1979 when he began as a reporter and host of Weekend All Things Considered. He also hosted NPR's World of Opera.
Steve has been a journalist for more than 30 years with experience at NPR, CBS News, the Boston Globe, WBUR-FM/Boston and WGBH-TV/Boston. He shared the 1975 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service as part of the Boston Globe's education team. Steve Curwood is also the recipient of the 2003 Global Green Award for Media Design, the 2003 David A. Brower Award from the Sierra Club for excellence in environmental reporting and the 1992 New England Environmental Leadership Award from Tufts University for his work on promoting environmental awareness. He is president of the World Media Foundation, Inc. A faculty associate of the Havard University Center for the Environment, he is also a professor of practice at UMass Boston. He lives in Southern New Hampshire on a small woodlot with his wife and family.

A member of the Living on Earth team since 2014, Jenni Doering enjoys producing stories on climate science, chemical exposure, and outdoor inclusivity. One of her favorite parts of the job is getting to meet and interview some of her nature writing heroes! She majored in Environmental Humanities at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA and will always have a soft spot for the PNW. She now lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with two very fluffy kitties and enjoys biking, hiking, and gardening.
Mark Kausch Director of Advancement and Program Strategy
Mark’s four-decade long work in non-profit broadcast media has included work in program development, marketing and launch initiatives, as well strategic and business planning for both new programs and programs in transition. His work at Public Radio International (“PRI”) included marketing, station placement and content strategy initiatives for over 30 ongoing series including Living on Earth, Bob Edwards Weekend, To the Point as well as dozens of limited series and specials. He led the station marketing launch for ongoing series including Schickele Mix, From the Top, American Routes, and American Public Media’s classical music service Classical 24.
In addition to his non-profit broadcast media work, Mark teaches viola da gamba and electric bass and double bass from his home in Minneapolis, MN and at several area universities. Mark is a graduate of St. Olaf College and the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University.
Jake Rego Technical Director
Jacob Rego has been with Living On Earth since 2012. He is a graduate from Berklee College of Music where he studied music production and engineering as well as acoustics and electronics. The science of audio engineering is his passion. When he’s not at work, Jacob can be found designing his own music equipment, and recording / producing local talent.

Aynsley joins Living on Earth from the Class of 2018 at Brandeis University, where she graduated with a double major in Biology and Environmental Studies, as well as a minor in Hispanic Studies. She has a special place in her heart for communicating science of any kind, and especially loves reporting on new and exciting scientific discoveries. Aynsley spends much of her free time learning everything she can, whether it be American Sign Language, advanced knitting techniques, or obscure comic book lore.
Paloma Beltran Associate Producer

Paloma's journey with environmentalism began in her home of Baja California, Mexico where she grew up playing in her grandmother's orange orchard and beach camping with her family along the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean. She is passionate about stories involving ecojustice, indigenous communities and environmental policy. In her free time you can find her attempting to cook her grandma's recipes and exploring New England. She joins Living on Earth from the UMass Boston class of 2019, where she majored in Environmental Studies.
Sophia Pandelidis Assistant Producer
Sophia Pandelidis joined Living on Earth in 2022 as an Editorial Intern with a degree in International Studies from Boston College. An animal lover from a young age, Sophia is especially drawn to pieces about the fascinating creatures that roam our earth. She is excited to use audio storytelling to ignite the public’s interest in conservation. When she is not producing, Sophia is performing on latin dance teams, singing, hiking, and playing with her cats.
